ABOUT CADEF
As part of the Government of Ghana’s efforts to boost Ghana’s food security and encourage the youth in agriculture, the Ministry of Finance through the Commodity Aggregation Development Program (CADeP) has allocated some funds for GCX to finance (Equity and debt) some aggregators and Brokerage Firms operating under the GCX. The program entails the aggregation of selected commodities including sorghum, soybean, and sesame - into GCX certified warehouses and developing these aggregators and Brokerage Firms into a well-established and viable businesses.
CADeF is wholly owned by the Ghana Commodity Exchange
(Coordinating agency) with the Venture Capital Trust Fund (VCTF) as the Fund
Manager. CADeF by this initiative will support Aggregators and Brokers already trading or seeking
to trade on the Ghana Commodity Exchange in specific value chain and
farmer-based organizations producing such commodities.
This will help attract further funding from more
established and formal sources of capital such as banks, venture capital and
private equity firms, discount houses, leasing companies among other to the
exchange.
